ADC Warns Against Arrest of Aregbesola Before Election

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised alarms regarding a purported plan to arrest its National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, in the lead-up to the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15. In a statement from the ADC's National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party claimed to have received credible reports of this planned arrest.

The ADC criticized the current government's pattern of intimidation and misuse of state institutions against opposition figures. Aregbesola, who is described as a former governor of Osun State and a former minister of the Federal Republic, is currently serving as the National Secretary of the ADC.

The party emphasized that if any security agency has legitimate reasons to invite him, proper procedures should be followed. The ADC warned that an arrest just before the election would be interpreted as an attempt to hinder Aregbesola's ability to lead and coordinate the party's election activities.

The ADC cautioned the APC-led Federal Government against actions that could lead to unrest in Osun State, asserting that the situation is being closely monitored by the public.
