Aregbesola Loses Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

In the recent governorship election held in Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, the former governor and current National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), lost his polling unit to Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The results from polling unit PU001 at Coop.

Building Junction in Ilesa East Local Government Area revealed that Oyebamiji secured 256 votes, while Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party received 43 votes, and ADC's Najeem Salaam garnered only 13 votes. This outcome represents an early advantage for the APC and a setback for the ADC, particularly in a polling unit associated with Aregbesola, who has been a prominent figure in Osun politics since leaving the APC in 2022.

Aregbesola, who served as the Minister of Interior and governed Osun from 2010 to 2018, cast his vote in his hometown of Ilesa. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is in the process of uploading results as collation continues across the state's 30 local government areas.
