INEC Prioritizes Elderly Voters for Osun Guber Election

On Saturday, during an inspection of the mock accreditation exercise in Osun State, Prof. Joash Amupitan, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), instructed officials to prioritize elderly voters for the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

Amupitan monitored the operation of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) at Polling Unit 1, Ward 1, Post Office, St. Peter’s Primary School, Ibokun, and visited additional polling units in Olorunsogo, Egbedore Local Government Area, and Ogo-Oluwa in Osogbo Local Government Area.

During the exercise, a temporary malfunction of the BVAS was reported at Olorunsogo Polling Unit 4, which was promptly resolved by INEC technical officials. Amupitan confirmed that both old and new Permanent Voter Cards were successfully authenticated after the glitch.

He praised the professionalism of election personnel and emphasized the importance of arriving at polling units by 7:00 a.m. on election day to ensure smooth operations.
