INEC Schedules Mock Accreditation for Osun Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a statewide mock accreditation exercise set for Saturday, August 1, 2026, in preparation for the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026. This exercise aims to evaluate the Commission's readiness and the performance of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) prior to the election.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by Mr. Ariyo Rufus, the Head of Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Inclusivity, on behalf of the Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola. The mock accreditation will simulate Election Day procedures but will not include actual voting.

Selected polling units across the three senatorial districts of Osun State will participate, including local governments such as Osogbo, Olorunda, Ifelodun, Boripe, Ilesa West, Ilesa East, Oriade, Obokun, Egbedore, Ede North, Ede South, and Ejigbo. INEC has urged registered voters in these areas to bring their valid Permanent Voter Cards for the exercise, reaffirming its commitment to a free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive governorship election.
