NSCDC Deploys Over 10,000 Personnel for Osun Election

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of 10,210 personnel to enhance security for the Osun governorship election scheduled for Saturday. According to a statement from spokesperson Babawale Afolabi on Monday in Abuja, the deployment consists of 10,000 operational officers and 210 personnel from intelligence and specialized tactical units.

Additionally, 1,000 personnel were sourced from 10 state commands of the corps. Commandant General Ahmed Audi directed the inclusion of specialized formations tailored to the election's security needs, such as the CG’s Special Intelligence Squad, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit, Specialised Female Squad, Mining Marshals, Special Strike Force, Crack Squad, and K9 unit.

Afolabi emphasized that these specialized teams would assist in intelligence gathering, crime prevention, and crowd control. Audi assured the people of Osun of the NSCDC's commitment to professionalism, neutrality, and respect for residents' rights, stating that any attempts to disrupt the election would be met with legal consequences as per the Electoral Act.
