ZLP's Adesuyi Warns Against Political Violence in Osun

Engr. Olufemi Adesuyi, the governorship candidate for the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Osun State, raised alarms regarding the increasing incidents of political violence in the state, which he believes threaten the peaceful atmosphere necessary for the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

In a statement signed on Wednesday and made available to journalists in Osogbo, Adesuyi highlighted recent violent incidents, including a reported killing, as detrimental to public confidence in the electoral process and the credibility of the forthcoming elections. He emphasized that political ambition should not lead to violence and called for a peaceful campaign environment where political differences are respected.

Adesuyi urged politicians across party lines to conduct their campaigns with decorum and to view each other as opponents rather than enemies. He also called on the Nigeria Police Force and security agencies to intensify efforts to prevent further violence and ensure justice for any perpetrators.

Additionally, he encouraged eligible voters to participate actively in the electoral process.
