Adeleke Appeals to Tinubu on Violence Ahead of Election

On Monday, Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during a campaign rally in Olorunda Local Government, Osogbo, to ensure the August 15 governorship election is free, fair, and credible. Adeleke expressed grave concerns about killings in the state, stating, “Our people are being killed,” and urged Tinubu to act as a father figure to the nation.

He emphasized that the police have been compromised and should focus on tackling kidnappers rather than intimidating innocent citizens. Adeleke mentioned that both he and the Accord Party have publicly endorsed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, questioning why violence persists despite this support.

He expressed confidence in winning the election if it is conducted fairly and called on Tinubu to direct the police to act impartially, noting that the international community is observing the situation, which he described as a test for the upcoming general elections.
