Man Dies After Dispute Over ₦8,000 Festival Proceeds

In Ilaro, Osun State, a man identified as Bukunmi died after a violent altercation stemming from a disagreement over ₦8,000 collected during a masquerade festival. The incident occurred on a Friday evening around 7:30 PM, after the festival participants, including Bukunmi, Femi, and Pelumi, attempted to share the proceeds.

A misunderstanding arose between Bukunmi and Femi, which escalated despite attempts at mediation. Bukunmi allegedly attacked Femi, resulting in a physical confrontation where Bukunmi was reported to have stabbed Femi.

Bukunmi sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps responded to the scene, and the police were notified.

Abiodun Ojelabi, a spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force in Osun State, confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect was taken into custody. An autopsy will be conducted to investigate the circumstances surrounding Bukunmi's death.
