Osun PDP Lawmakers Demand End to LG Occupation

Lawmakers from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State have urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately vacate the illegal occupation of local government areas in the state to prevent a crisis. This call was made during a stakeholders' meeting led by Senator Lere Oyewumi.

The PDP lawmakers highlighted that the party is committed to upholding the law and maintaining peace, rather than escalating tensions. They stressed the importance of federal institutions acting within constitutional confines regarding local government funds and managing these funds strictly according to the law.

The communiqué also called for the Inspector General of Police to ensure that the police remain neutral and professional in handling local government matters. Furthermore, the PDP commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for his commitment to worker welfare despite financial challenges and expressed unanimous support for his second term in office.

The lawmakers condemned the diversion of public funds for private use and emphasized that local government allocations should not be withheld, as this causes hardship for essential workers.
