Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Mother in Osun

The Osun State Police Command arrested Taye Kasali for the alleged murder of his mother, Kudirat Kasali, whose remains were discovered in a shallow grave on their family farm. The police initiated the investigation after a missing-person report was filed on September 1, following the disappearance of Kudirat and Taye.

On September 7, Taye was apprehended based on intelligence linking him to his mother's suspected death. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to killing Kudirat on August 31, 2026, claiming a disagreement over family farmland as the motive.

He stated that his mother threatened to lease the property, which he viewed as their primary source of livelihood. The police recovered a machete believed to be the murder weapon from the scene.

Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Zungura, has directed a thorough investigation and assured that the suspect will be prosecuted according to the law.
