Gas Truck Collision Causes Emergency on Kwara Highway

On Wednesday at approximately 5 pm, a gas-laden Toyota Sienna bus suffered brake failure and crashed into three other vehicles on Ibrahim Taiwo Road in Ilorin, Kwara State, near the Stadium Complex Gate. The Sienna, registered as LEM 95 XB, was transporting 23 gas cylinders and six drums of carbide when the driver lost control.

In an attempt to stop, the driver maneuvered towards the road divider but ultimately crossed into the opposite lane, causing the vehicle to overturn and collide with a Toyota Avensis (registration SMK 530 JB), a commercial tricycle (registration SHA 503 VD), and a motorcycle (registration ARP 405 VE). The driver sustained injuries, and the presence of hazardous materials heightened fears of a fire outbreak.

The Kwara State Fire Service, led by Public Relations Officer Hassan Adekunle, responded promptly, managing the situation and advising motorists to avoid the area while emergency operations were underway.
