Adeleke's Campaign Demands Release of Detained Supporters

On Wednesday, the campaign team of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke called for the immediate release of supporters allegedly arrested by the Nigeria Police Force ahead of the state’s governorship election. Campaign spokesperson Pelumi Olajengbesi claimed that over 86 members of the Accord Party had been detained without lawful justification, asserting that the arrests were politically motivated to intimidate opposition supporters.

Olajengbesi reported that 36 detainees were transferred to Keffi Correctional Centre and 14 to Kuje Custodial Centre without any charges. He accused the Osun State Commissioner of Police of compromising the electoral process and urged the Inspector-General of Police to ensure a fair election.

The Osun State Police Command, represented by spokesperson DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, dismissed the allegations, claiming only six adults were arrested based on credible intelligence and denied any invasion of government officials' residences.
