Adeleke's Camp Alleges Soldier Intimidation in Osun Polls

The Imole Campaign Council, representing Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, has expressed alarm regarding the alleged arrest and intimidation of Accord Party members by soldiers during the governorship election held on a Saturday. Spokesman Pelumi Olajengbesi stated that soldiers reportedly invaded Ijebu-Ijesa in Oriade Local Government Area around noon, arresting Accord Party members at polling units.

The council claimed these soldiers were accompanied by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and were not part of the troops assigned for election duties in the area. They condemned this action as unacceptable and called on the Chief of Army Staff to intervene.

Additionally, Adeleke raised concerns about a police officer from Port Harcourt, nicknamed “London,” allegedly deployed to intimidate voters in his hometown of Ede. He urged the Inspector-General of Police to investigate and redeploy the officer.

Adeleke also warned against attempts to bypass the established process for collating election results.
