Accord Party Demands EFCC Chairman's Resignation

The Accord Party has demanded the immediate resignation of Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), following the controversial freezing of Osun State Government accounts. This demand was made on Friday during a press conference in Abuja, where Accord National Chairman Chief Maxwell Mgbudem commended President Bola Tinubu for directing the EFCC to reverse the account freeze.

Mgbudem stated that the President's intervention was crucial for safeguarding democratic institutions. He expressed that the party has lost confidence in the EFCC's leadership, alleging partisanship ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.

Mgbudem insisted that Olukoyede should resign for allegedly discrediting the anti-corruption agency, and if he does not, President Tinubu should remove him to restore public trust. The party also urged security agencies and other democratic institutions to remain neutral during the election period and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a credible election.
