ADC's Najim Salam Claims Frontrunner Status in Osun Poll

Najim Salam, the governorship candidate of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), has declared himself the leading candidate in the upcoming Osun State election set for Saturday, August 15. During an appearance on “Politics Today,” Salam, a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, stated he will compete against incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord party and Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

He referred to both Adeleke and Oyebamiji as his juniors in politics and outlined a 10-point agenda aimed at transforming the state, prioritizing the welfare of workers and retirees. Salam rejected the label of being a protégé of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, asserting his independence in the campaign.

He expressed confidence in winning across all local government areas, stating that the people of Osun prefer his party over the two main competitors. Salam also addressed concerns about his political affiliations, emphasizing his long-standing commitment to the ADC and his ability to lead without Aregbesola's influence.
