INEC Ensures Security Neutrality for Osun Polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that security personnel assigned to the Osun State governorship election on August 15 will take an oath of neutrality. Oluwatoyin Babalola, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Osun State, briefed journalists on preparations for the election, indicating that training for security personnel will take place from July 31 to August 2.
This training will be supervised by the presidential office, with additional sessions scheduled for August 9. Babalola emphasized the importance of security personnel understanding their roles, especially following issues during the 2023 general elections.
A total of 3,763 Bimodal Voter Accreditation (BVA) devices will be deployed across polling units, with 664 designated as backups. These devices will facilitate the uploading of results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IREV) to enhance transparency.
The election will see incumbent governor Ademola Adeleke seeking re-election against Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress and Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress, among others.
