Nigerian Army Reaffirms Commitment on 163rd Anniversary

On the occasion of its 163rd anniversary, the Nigerian Army, represented by Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen.

Waidi Shaibu, reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Nigeria's sovereignty and serving its citizens. The anniversary was marked by a church service in Abuja, where Maj.

Gen. Maxwel Dangana described the event as an opportunity to reflect on the Army's journey and achievements.

Shaibu emphasized the theme of this year's celebration as "Protecting the Nation, Serving the People," which underscores the Army's constitutional responsibility to safeguard Nigeria and promote national stability. He acknowledged the Army's ongoing operations against terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities, noting significant achievements in neutralizing threats and restoring peace.

Shaibu also highlighted the importance of personnel welfare, revealing an increase in recruitment aimed at strengthening the Army's operational capacity. He expressed gratitude for the support from President Bola Tinubu, stating that recent successes were made possible through this backing.
