INEC Clears 14 Parties for Osun Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially cleared 14 political parties to participate in the upcoming governorship election in Osun State, set for August 8, 2023. However, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) were not cleared for the election.

The 14 parties that successfully completed their primaries and uploaded the names of their candidates, including running mates, within the stipulated deadline are: Action Alliance (AA), African Action Congress (AAC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Action Democratic Party (ADP), Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), All Progressives Congress (APC), People's Movement (APM), Action People's Party (APP), Boot Party (BP), New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), People's Redemption Party (PRP), Young Progressives Party (YPP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

INEC also announced that details of the candidates and their running mates will be published in accordance with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022, and urged political parties to allow public inspection of these documents.
