APC Urges Adeleke to Focus on Governance Ahead of Poll

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has advised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to cease blaming President Bola Tinubu and APC leaders for his political difficulties as the August 15 governorship election approaches. APC National Secretary Ajibola Bashiru made this statement in Abuja, responding to Adeleke's comments at a campaign rally in Osogbo, where the governor accused political opponents of inciting violence and urged Tinubu to intervene.

Adeleke claimed extrajudicial killings were occurring in Osun and warned against election rigging, referencing the political turmoil in the old Western Region in 1983. Bashiru dismissed Adeleke's allegations as unfounded and suggested that the governor should focus on his achievements to secure a second term rather than casting blame.

He expressed surprise at a sitting governor raising concerns about election rigging nearly two weeks before the election, attributing Adeleke's comments to anxiety over the APC's growing popularity and its candidate Munirudeen Oyebamiji.
