Kwankwaso Congratulates Adeleke on Osun Election Win

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former Governor of Kano State and vice-presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress in the 2027 election, congratulated Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the Osun State governorship election held on August 15, 2026. Adeleke won the election as the Accord Party candidate, securing 511,067 votes against Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who garnered 444,815 votes.

Adeleke's victory is notable as he previously contested under the Peoples Democratic Party before leaving due to internal conflicts. He won in 19 of the state's 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won in 11.

Kwankwaso praised the citizens of Osun State for their democratic engagement and commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for conducting the election. Despite reports of vote-buying and isolated violence, the Centre for Democracy and Development characterized the election as largely peaceful.
