Otti Supports JTF Crackdown on Oil Theft in Abia

On Tuesday, Abia State Governor Alex Otti expressed his full support for the Joint Task Force (JTF) in its renewed offensive against crude oil theft and related crimes. During a meeting with a delegation led by the new JTF commander, Olugbenga Oladipo, Otti emphasized the importance of inter-agency security collaboration to safeguard oil infrastructure, protect residents, and attract investors.

He assured the JTF of his administration's commitment to working together to eliminate criminal activities. Otti highlighted the need for a dedicated JTF operational base in Ukwa West LGA, an oil-producing hub, to provide logistical support.

He noted that while pipeline vandalism has decreased, criminal elements have shifted tactics, necessitating a robust response. The governor also mentioned the establishment of a monthly security council meeting to strengthen the state's security architecture.

The JTF is prepared to maintain a 24-hour quick response squad across its operational areas.
