On Wednesday, Abia State Governor Alex Otti inaugurated the newly completed Umuahia Central Bus Terminal, a multimodal transport facility in the state capital. He named the terminal after Prof.

Nnenna Nnannaya Oti, the first female Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, to honor her role and integrity during the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) return to office in the 2023 governorship elections. Governor Otti praised her courage and commitment to truth during a high-stakes electoral assignment.

He emphasized that the terminal symbolizes the resistance against electoral manipulation and serves as a reminder that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary results. The terminal is designed to accommodate 340 buses, improving access, safety, and efficiency in urban transport operations.

Otti disclosed that the transport system will support electric bus services, with 20 already operational, and warned residents against vandalism and waste disposal violations that could undermine the project. The event also featured a minute of silence in honor of the late former Commissioner for Transport, Sonni Onwuma.
