Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has revealed plans to build a 250-room five-star hotel in Umuahia, aimed at boosting tourism and business in the state capital. The announcement was made during a civic reception honoring the people of Ikwuano at the Umuahia Township Stadium, where the hotel site has already been identified. A partnership agreement was signed over the weekend, paving the way for an imminent ground-breaking event. Otti emphasized his administration's commitment to good governance and sustainable development, stating that the hotel project is part of a broader vision to transform Umuahia into a city that can be compared to global destinations like Dubai. Other ongoing projects mentioned include the Umuahia Township Stadium and Amachara Specialist Hospital. Deputy Speaker Austin Mmeregini and local government chairman Chinedum Enwereuzo expressed support for Otti's leadership and development efforts. The governor also introduced social security initiatives aimed at improving healthcare delivery in the state.
