SSANU Urges Quick Resolution of 2009 Agreement Delays

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), represented by Dr. Abdussobour Salaam, expressed significant concern regarding the delayed renegotiation of the 2009 agreement with the federal government during their 79th zonal executive council meeting at Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ogun State.

The union warned that its members are becoming increasingly agitated due to the prolonged process, which has exceeded the expected timelines for renegotiation. Dr.

Salaam noted that the agreement was supposed to be reviewed every three years, with the last negotiation occurring in 2009. He commended President Bola Tinubu for providing a platform for negotiations but cautioned against external influences that could derail the process.

The union has previously suspended strikes to allow for dialogue, but members' patience is running thin, and they are urging the government to finalize the agreement promptly to prevent unrest.
