SSANU and NASU Resume Negotiations with FG on Salaries

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) have resumed negotiations with the Federal Government following the suspension of an indefinite strike that began on April 30. The Joint Action Committee (JAC), which comprises both unions, is negotiating at the National Universities Commission (NUC) headquarters in Abuja.

The unions are seeking a minimum salary increase of 40%, while the government has proposed a 30% increase, which the unions have rejected. Moham Ibrahim, the National President of SSANU, confirmed the resumption of talks in a telephone interview, stating that the discussions are expected to conclude within two weeks, including the signing of an agreement.

The unions aim to address the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement and improve welfare conditions for their members.
