ECOWAS President Lauds Nigeria's Role in Regional Stability

Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, the outgoing President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), commended Nigeria's leadership in promoting political stability in West Africa during a farewell visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday night.

Touray noted that his visit aimed to thank President Tinubu for his significant contributions, especially during Tinubu's tenure as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority. He stated that Nigeria's role has been crucial in reducing regional tensions and emphasized the collaborative efforts of Nigeria's cabinet members in regional leadership.

Touray mentioned that the current ECOWAS Commission management's tenure will conclude at the end of August. He expressed appreciation for his working relationship with Tinubu, highlighting the Nigerian President's leadership qualities and commitment to West African integration.

Touray felt privileged to have served under Tinubu and acknowledged the President's generosity and openness throughout their collaboration.
