Outrage As Young Footballer Dies After Being Thrown Into River Over ₦80k Debt

A young footballer tragically died in Italy after allegedly being thrown into the Tanaro River over an ₦80k debt. The victim, Abdou Ngom, was born in Italy to Senegalese parents and was attacked while spending time at a riverside beach with friends.

The incident occurred on April 21, with authorities charging a teenager with murdering Abdou, who was a promising player for Bra FC. Despite search efforts, Abdou's body has not been found due to the dangerous conditions of the river.

Abdou's father expressed deep sorrow over the loss of his son, who had dreams of playing football professionally. In a related development, a young Nigerian footballer from Charlton Athletic Football Club academy in England also passed away at the age of 10.
