Over 1000 Athletes Converge in Abuja for NOGIG 2026 Multi-Sport Event

Over 1000 athletes representing 15 participating companies are converging in Abuja for the NOGIG 2026 multi-sport event scheduled to be held from February 8 to 14 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium. Teams have started arriving in Abuja to train ahead of the games, with contingents expected to continue arriving from February 4 to 6.

The event will feature sports such as chess, scrabble, snooker, volleyball, basketball, badminton, swimming, tennis, table tennis, and football, among others. Notable participating organizations include PTI, NNPC, NUPRC, NMDPR, NCDMB, Oando, TotalEnergies, ExxonMobil, Shell, SNEPCo, Seplat, Chevron, and NLNG.

Simon Nweke, the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Subcommittee, highlighted the intense training by teams aiming for podium finishes, ensuring competitive games. The event emphasizes adherence to best practices, with technical assistance provided by various sports federations to ensure smooth operations.
