Mary Ikoku Foundation Hosts Free Market Day for 2,000 Families

The Mary Ikoku Foundation successfully hosted the 2025 free Nkwo market day in Arochukwu, Abia State, on December 30-31, 2025, benefiting over 2,000 vulnerable families. Participants received food and household essentials at no cost, utilizing a unique voucher system designed to eliminate stigma and restore dignity.

The event also focused on empowerment through skill training in confectionery and soap making, alongside financial literacy and digital onboarding sessions to equip participants with practical tools for income generation. The foundation's Ajaja project played a significant role in logistics and food product supply, reinforcing its commitment to local empowerment and sustainability.

Due to overwhelming turnout, the market was extended for a second day to ensure more families could benefit. The founder, Mary Ikoku, emphasized the importance of community support and shared testimonials from beneficiaries, including Mama Christi and Chidinma, who highlighted the transformative impact of the initiative.
