Storm Kristin Kills Four in Portugal, Causes Widespread Damage

A storm named Kristin struck Portugal, resulting in the deaths of at least four individuals. The storm caused significant destruction, cutting power to around 850,000 homes as it moved across the country.

Trees were uprooted, leading to widespread damage and road closures, including the main highway connecting Lisbon to northern regions. In the Lisbon region, one person died when a car was struck by a falling tree, while three others were killed in the central district of Leiria.

The storm brought heavy rain and wind gusts of up to 150 kilometers per hour, sparking around 3,000 weather-related incidents. The Portuguese government declared the storm an extreme weather event, with efforts underway to gradually restore power in the affected areas.
