Container truck accident on Lagos bridge kills four

Four adult males were killed and six others injured when a container-laden truck overturned onto a Toyota Hiace bus on Berger Bridge, inward Eleko, along the Ibeju-Lekki Expressway in Lagos State. The accident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, as disclosed by Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the truck was traveling uphill at excessive speed when it collided with the bus, leading to the truck driver losing control and the truck overturning onto the bus. The impact resulted in four fatalities at the scene, while six adult males sustained varying degrees of injuries.
LASEMA responders, in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigeria Police Force, secured the scene, provided first aid, and evacuated the injured to Epe General Hospital. Recovery operations were ongoing, and traffic management measures were implemented to ensure safety along the corridor.
The state government expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
