Owerri Zone stakeholders insist on power shift in 2028 Imo governorship

Stakeholders from the Owerri Senatorial Zone in Imo State are demanding a power shift in the 2028 governorship election, citing years of marginalization in state politics. At a town hall meeting organized by the Olu Owerri and Owerri Zone Indigenous Town Union, legal luminary Barrister Sorronnandi Njoku emphasized the constitutional and moral right of the Owerri Zone to govern.

The stakeholders expressed concern over the 20-year hold on power by the Orlu Zone since 1999 and the need for equity and justice in the rotation of power among the three zones in Imo State. They highlighted the importance of unity and rallying behind a credible candidate from the Owerri Zone to ensure success in the 2028 governorship aspiration.

Key leaders and community representatives at the event echoed the call for a fair and inclusive political process to end the marginalization of the Owerri Zone.
