DSS Allegedly Threatened Owo Attack Suspect with Death

Al Qasim Idri, a suspect linked to the 2022 St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church attack in Owo, Ondo State, testified in the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday.

He alleged that officers from the Department of State Services (DSS) threatened him with death, stating they would feed his body to crocodiles if he did not confess to involvement in the massacre. Idri claimed he was subjected to maltreatment during his three-day detention, including being moved to an underground cell and later hospitalized.

He recounted an encounter with a female DSS officer who questioned him about his arrest and warned him that if he did not confess, he would spend 50 years in prison. Idri identified a male officer, Segun Kayod, who allegedly ordered him to be killed if he revealed the truth.

The court adjourned the matter until March 26 for further proceedings.
