Oyebanji Urges Ekiti Judges to Resist Corruption

On Tuesday, in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji cautioned newly appointed judges against succumbing to corrupt influences and undue pressure from friends and associates. During the swearing-in ceremony for five judges of the Ekiti State High Court, Oyebanji stressed the necessity for judicial officers to uphold integrity, dispense justice fairly and speedily, and remain impartial regardless of the wealth or status of individuals connected to them.

He highlighted that the credibility of the judiciary is crucial for public confidence in justice, warning against the perception of justice being available to the highest bidder. The five judges sworn in include Olanik Adegok, Julius Sunday Bamis, Julius Ajibar, Stephen Akinyede, and Adefunk Anoma, who were appointed following a rigorous screening process in line with the 2023 revised National Judicial Council guidelines, as cited in Section 271(2) of the 1999 Constitution.

Justice Olanik Adegok expressed gratitude to the governor and pledged to uphold the constitution and discharge their duties with integrity.
