Ekiti Governor Swears in Five New High Court Judges

On Monday, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji swore in five new judges to the Ekiti State High Court, including Justice Olanik Adegok, former Chief Registrar; Bamidel Bamis, former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice; Julius Ajibar, former Director of Public Prosecutions; Stephen Akinyede, and Adefunk Anoma, former Chief Magistrate. Governor Oyebanji urged the new judges to resist any undue influence and to ensure justice is served impartially.

He highlighted the necessity of providing human and material resources for effective justice delivery. The appointments, made based on merit and approved by the National Judicial Council (NJC), aim to strengthen the judiciary and expedite case processing.

State Attorney General Dayo Apata outlined ongoing reforms to enhance the judiciary, emphasizing the separation of powers. Adegok, speaking on behalf of her colleagues, pledged to uphold the constitution and deliver justice without fear or favor.

The NJC had approved these appointments during its 110th meeting on January 13, 2026.
