Ekiti's Oyebode Football Tournament Boosts Youth Talent

The 2025 Professor Akin Oyebode Football Tournament concluded at Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado Ekiti, where Irepodun Ifelodun Local Government emerged as champions after a 5-4 victory in a penalty shootout against Ado Local Government, following a 3-3 draw in regular time. The tournament, which included male and female categories, awarded cash prizes to winners and aimed to motivate young talent.

This fourth edition brought together teams from various local governments, with Ado Local Government securing victory in the female final against Irepodun Ifelodun, while Ado Local Government defeated Gbonyin Aiyekir 3-2 in the male third-place match. Governor Biodun Oyebanji and Speaker Stephen Aribasoye commended the tournament's sponsors and its role in developing grassroots talent.

Jimoh Kudirat emphasized the importance of such competitions for youth exposure and professional football aspirations. The tournament reflects a commitment to investing in youth sports and building community infrastructure.
