Oyo AAC Condemns Revocation of Sowore's Bail by Court

The Oyo State chapter of the African Action Congress (AAC) condemned the revocation of bail granted to its presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, by Justice Muhammad Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja. The court issued a bench warrant for Sowore's arrest after he failed to appear for a scheduled trial related to alleged cybercrime offenses.

Kayode Babayomi, the AAC chairman in Oyo State, stated that the decision was politically motivated and an attack on the AAC. The party noted that Sowore had previously appeared in court on June 15, but the judge did not sit without notice.

Sowore had requested future dates for his trial due to a scheduled trip to Lagos, which the judge ignored, leading to the immediate revocation of his bail and the issuance of a bench warrant on June 16. The AAC described the court's actions as an attempt to silence Sowore, who is a significant voice in the political landscape.
