Sowore Remanded in Kuje Prison After Bail Revocation

Omoyele Sowore, the president of the African Action Congress and a human rights activist, has been ordered to be remanded in Kuje Prison after Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court Abuja revoked his bail. This decision follows Sowore's public remarks in which he allegedly referred to President Bola Tinubu as a criminal, a claim Sowore denies.

The court dismissed Sowore's application requesting Justice Umar to step down from the case, which Sowore's legal team argued was marked by persistent unfair treatment and hostility. Sowore's lawyers expressed fear in representing him due to the perceived hostility from the judge, prompting them to file a fresh application for recusal.

The activist will remain in custody until a court order is issued on Wednesday.
