Reps Urge Security to Rescue Abducted Oyo Pupils, Teachers

The House of Representatives made a call on Tuesday during a session for security agencies to urgently rescue the abducted pupils and teachers from Baptist Nursery Primary School and Grammar School in Oyo State. This motion was brought forward by Hon.

Olamijuwonlo Alaao Akala, who stressed the critical need to bring the children and teachers home alive without further delay. The House noted that every hour lost increases the risk to the victims.

Additionally, the House referenced the recent beheading of a school teacher, Michael Oyedokun, by bandits in the area, highlighting the severe threat posed by such criminal activities. The lawmakers also discussed the approval of 1,000 forest guards by President Bola Tinubu to enhance security in the region.

They called for the establishment of a permanent military operational base in Oriire Local Government Area to ensure sustained security presence across Oyo State and proposed the creation of state and local police units to improve local security measures.
