Oyo Police Warn Against False Reports on Abduction Case

The Oyo State Police Command has cautioned the public against disseminating false information that could undermine ongoing efforts to rescue a pupil and teacher abducted in Oriir Local Government Area. In a statement issued on Saturday by Deputy Superintendent of Police Ayanlad Olayinka, the command refuted claims circulating on social media about the arrest of a pastor who was allegedly supplying arms to kidnappers.

The police emphasized that no arrests had been made and that the reports were entirely false and misleading. The command stated that such misinformation could divert attention from the rescue operations and undermine public confidence in security agencies.

They urged the public to disregard unverified reports and rely on official updates from verified communication channels. Furthermore, the police warned individuals involved in spreading false information that they would face legal consequences, including investigation and prosecution.
