Bauchi Governor Calls for Security Reform After Oyo Abductions

On May 15, 2023, terrorists attacked Baptist Nursery Primary School and Grammar School in Yawota Community, Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State, resulting in the death of a teacher and the abduction of 45 pupils. In response, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed visited Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan to express sympathy for the victims and their families.

During the visit, Mohammed, accompanied by leaders from the People's Movement, including the national chairman Yusuf Dantal and governorship candidate Yakubu Adamu, called for a reevaluation of the nation's security architecture to ensure the safety of citizens. He expressed optimism that the abducted teacher and pupils would soon be freed and commended Makinde for his efforts in securing their safe return.

Mohammed also highlighted the impact of poor governance and poverty on insecurity, urging citizens to elect responsible leaders to improve the situation.
