SGF Georg Akum Criticizes Makinde on Kidnapping Politics

On Tuesday, Georg Akum, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, condemned Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for allegedly politicizing the recent abduction of pupils and a teacher in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. Akum stated that President Bola Tinubu prioritizes the rescue of victims and has focused on intelligence-driven security operations rather than engaging in public grandstanding.

This statement followed Makinde's complaint that President Tinubu had not called regarding the abduction, which saw 45 teachers and pupils held captive for 56 days. Akum stressed that the situation requires serious attention and that the President's leadership is defined by action rather than rhetoric.

He described Tinubu as a "doer" whose administration is committed to restoring peace and ensuring the safety of Nigerians. Akum also commended the Global Association of Christian Muslim Youth Peace Development for promoting religious harmony and unity in Nigeria.
