Oyo APC Dismisses Impeachment Claims Against Makinde

The Oyo State chapter of the APC has characterized allegations of an impeachment plot against Governor Seyi Makinde as a poorly scripted attempt to distract the public and garner sympathy for the governor. The party's statement, issued by Public Secretary Olawal Sadar, labels the claims as unsubstantiated and suggests that Makinde should have faced impeachment long ago due to various allegations of misconduct.

The statement also denies any involvement from President Bola Tinubu and other prominent figures in the purported plot. Additionally, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has renewed allegations regarding Makinde's intentions to remove Olubadan Rashidi Ladoja, despite previous denials from the state government.

The APC asserts that the impeachment narrative is a tactic to mitigate the impact of allegations against Makinde, including misappropriation of funds related to local government contracts and federal relief funds. The party believes that the governor's political future is in jeopardy, and the impeachment claims are an attempt to deflect attention from serious issues.
