Ogun State to Boost School Security After Oyo Kidnappings

In response to recent security threats, particularly the kidnapping of 39 students and seven teachers in Oyo State, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced a plan to strengthen security around schools across Ogun State. The announcement was made by Chief Press Secretary Lekan Adeniran during an Eid el-Kabir celebration in Iperu.

The governor emphasized the need for proactive measures to safeguard educational institutions and protect the future of children in Ogun State. The initiative will involve deploying formal security agencies and local security outfits, including Amotekun Corp and So Safe Corp, to provide adequate protection for schools.

The governor also noted the importance of collaboration among traditional rulers, religious leaders, and law enforcement agencies to ensure effective surveillance around schools. Abiodun's administration aims to implement these security measures immediately, prioritizing the safety of schoolchildren and addressing the recent violent incidents experienced in neighboring states.
