Nigeria Police Vow to Rescue Abducted Schoolchildren

The Nigeria Police Force has committed to ensuring the swift release of schoolchildren and a teacher abducted in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. Deputy Inspector General of Police Adegoke Fayoad addressed the media at the South West Command headquarters in Ikeja, stating that the police are working closely with security agencies to secure the safe return of the victims.

Fayoad emphasized that the safety of the abducted individuals remains a top priority. He also disclosed plans to recruit 40,000 additional police personnel by June 2026 as part of a broader strategy to enhance manpower and operational capacity to address emerging security challenges across the country.

Furthermore, he dismissed claims that police operations in Lagos weakened following the EndSARS protests, asserting that recent operations demonstrate effective intelligence-led policing.
