Oyo State Hosts MTN Champs Grand Finale with 3,200 Athletes

Oyo State is preparing to host the grand finale of the MTN Champs Season 4, which will take place from April 14 to April 17, 2026, at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan. The Oyo State Commission for Youth and Sports, represented by Wasila Adegoke, emphasized the state government's commitment to youth development and grassroots sports.

A total of 3,200 athletes from 215 schools and 325 teams are registered for the competition, which aims to discover outstanding athletic talent across Nigeria. Bambo Akani, the founder of the MTN Champs, highlighted the significance of the event as a platform for nurturing young athletes, with previous editions already providing opportunities for scholarships in various U.S. schools.

The state government is fully committed to creating an enabling environment for the program to thrive, believing that young athletes will represent Nigeria on the global stage.
