MTN Champs Season 4 Concludes with Record Performances

The MTN Champs Season 4 concluded its second leg in Plateau State from March 26 to 28, showcasing 1,300 athletes from 148 secondary school teams competing in various track and field events at the New Jos Stadium. Sagiru Sani Dandango, the NSSF Public Relations Officer, and Osieb Felix Onoriod, Secretary of the Athletic Coaches Association of Nigeria, praised MTN for its role in identifying and nurturing young athletic talent, particularly in remote communities.

Ngonwa Nwoy, a representative from MTN Nigeria, described the competition as an inspiring display of talent and resilience. The event saw standout performances, including Miracl Ezechukwu's victory in the junior 100m, setting a new national U-20 record, and Esther Okon's season-best time of 53.61 seconds in the women's 400m.

MTN Champs also awarded significant cash prizes to individual winners and schools, with first place receiving N2 million and N5 million, respectively. The competition will move to Ibadan for the grand final, aiming for broader participation across the country.
