MTN Champs Season Four Concludes with Record Performances

The fourth season of the MTN Champs concluded from March 26 to 28 in Jos, Plateau State, showcasing 1,300 athletes from 148 secondary school teams competing in various track and field events. Sagiru Sani Dandango, Secretary of the Athletics Coaches Association of Nigeria, and Osieb Felix Onoriod from the Nigerian School Sports Federation commended MTN for its role in identifying and nurturing young athletic talent, particularly in remote communities.

Ngonwa Nwoy from MTN Nigeria highlighted the event's inspirational display of talent and resilience, noting that competitors pushed their limits despite challenging weather conditions. The competition featured significant rewards, with individual winners receiving up to N2 million and schools receiving up to N5 million for top placements.

Notable performances included Miracl Ezechukwu setting a new national U-20 record in the junior 100m and Esther Okon achieving a season-best time in the women's 400m. The event concluded with plans for a grand final in Ibadan, aiming for broader participation across the country.
