Oyo gives N45m to HIV activities, inaugurates Ladigbolu, Peller, others as OYSACA ambassadors

The Oyo State government has allocated N45 million to HIV activities as part of its efforts to combat the disease. Deputy Governor Barrister Bayo Lawal announced the funding during the inauguration of six OYSACA ambassadors, including Chief Saka Balogun and Honourable Sina Abiola Peller.

The ambassadors will raise awareness, provide support to individuals affected by HIV, and influence policy decisions. The government also approved the purchase of HIV test kits to aid OYSACA's work in controlling the spread of the virus.

Barrister Lawal emphasized the importance of community engagement and leadership in the fight against HIV, urging collective action to empower individuals to make informed decisions about their health. The Oyo State Commissioner of Health, represented by a permanent secretary, reiterated the government's commitment to HIV prevention and treatment services.

Despite challenges such as funding reductions, OYSACA remains dedicated to its mission of eradicating HIV in the state.
