Oyo State Impounds 60 Motorcycles for QR Code Violations

The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) has impounded no fewer than 60 commercial motorcycles for failing to comply with the state's QR code jacket policy. This enforcement exercise began on Tuesday and took place in various locations in Ibadan, including Mokola Gate and Idi Ape along Iwo Road.

The Executive Chairman of OYRTMA, Adekoya Adesagba, stated that the operation aims to strengthen regulations, improve security, and ensure accountability among commercial motorcycle operators. Despite repeated warnings, many operators have disregarded government directives, putting the safety of riders and passengers at risk.

Adesagba emphasized that the agency will continue enforcement until full compliance is achieved. Additionally, Adeoy Adekola, the General Manager of OYRTMA, warned against the use of fake QR code jackets and urged operators to register through approved government channels.

Any individual found with counterfeit registrations will face prosecution under the law.
